|2013 North American International Auto Show|
As a person that enjoys “people watching” , there
was no better place than this years North American International Auto Show
in Detroit, Michigan. It was definitely one of the hottest places to "be seen" this
The auto show continues to get bigger and better and this year was certainly no exception. With new technology being a center piece at this years event.
From touch screens that displayed information on nearly every vehicle, to large kiosk style mega tablets that were featured by some auto makers. These allowed many, especially the youth, to interact with the car brands in a fun, new way. While letting automakers choose, what they want you to know about their brands.
New technology in automobiles like hybrids and electric vehicles was also a major theme at this years show. Showing that the promise of gas free vehicles could be a real possibility in the near future.
Even if you don’t love cars, you will still love the auto show. As it showcases not
only cars, but people, technology and human progress.
Our will to strive to better everything around us as human beings, not
just cars. That’s really, what the auto show is all about.
While the cars are the main attraction, there are a
good amount of other things to see. Like the large motion videos being
displayed by many car brands. The bright lights and flashy colors seemed
to draw many visitors in and the touch screens and other technology kept
them close by.
While listing everything the auto show had to offer
would be a near impossibility, here were some of the notable highlights
of this years event.
The VW display was certainly eye candy, as it featured not only the latest vehicles, as well as a live DJ who was playing what can only be described as “club dance music”. People could not help but stop and stare at the 2 beautiful models slowly gyrating on the small stands setup for them, the ones similarly used to display vehicles.
The new corvette was drawing huge crowds and it was
extremely difficult to get a close up view of the red hot vehicle.
People seemed to be mesmerized by what they saw. They were spending
large amounts of time at the front of the display, taking in the
breathtaking new car.
The diversity of the spectators was simply amazing. I must have
heard no less than 4 or 5 different languages spoken around me. Flashes
and cameras were also, aplenty, as it seemed that nearly everyone wanted
to capture photos of the displays.
The "Red Bull" Formula 1 car was simply amazing, I could not take
my eyes off of it. The presentation given was eye opening as well. Just
the fact that to qualify for Formula 1 the car needs to be able to go
from 0 - 100 in 5 seconds and then back down to zero again is simply
amazing. These cars are truly an engineering masterpiece and I gained a
whole new respect for Formula 1 racing.
If you were lucky enough to attend this years event you were treated to a truly exciting event and if you missed this years show, well there is always next year. By Kerry Zangara
